    Story

    Hi everyone,
Having to write this is very hard for me to do.
On 28/08/18 My father Peter passed away after ten days in a local hospital after suffering from pneumonia, he was 83.
His passing was sudden as it was unexpected, It was & still is a source of a great deal of pain for myself, my sister & family.
My Sister has always lived with mum & dad, as she has moderate learning disabilities & is on the autistic spectrum to a lesser degree, sadly in 2000, our mum passed away from cancer leaving dad & I to pick up the pieces, over the years we have come to terms with the loss & now we are dealing with our dad's sad departure.
I appreciate that every one of us goes through this kind of loss, tragically some suffer much more than we could ever comprehend but, each of our sufferings are our own worst things I suppose.
Now, we are in a very difficult position, my wife & I are sadly not in a financial position to pay our fathers funeral costs, neither is my sister & there was no estate or insurance policies to help with the costs either.
We have applied to the DWP on my sister's behalf for a funeral payment but was turned down on the grounds that A: I am not estranged immediate family & B: I am not in receipt of any benefit (does this mean I have to make myself unemployed to get the grant I ask myself?) It's looking more & more like an appeal process will be lengthy & ultimately fruitless, only serving to cause more heartache & stress for my sister & I.
With this in mind, I would humbly & gratiously ask for your support in this matter.
We are looking for £2850, this is the remaining amount outstanding with the funeral directors, we can't even afford a grave stone.
There's a few other minor expenses that would bring the amount up to around £3000 but we can probably cope with those.
Please help, we really do not like to ask & this feels all to much like begging & for that, I feel some degree of shame but there we are, life can be a bitch sometimes.
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS X
