Weʼve raised £390 to Renovate a Battle of Britain Willow Spitfire Monument
- Funded on Sunday, 1st December 2019
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
In 2010 a willow Spitfire was erected on the Oakham Burley Parkway by members of the then RAF Cottesmore, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. For several years the Spitfire was maintained but in recent years has become neglected since the closure of the RAF Unit. In order to bring the monument back to its former glory it requires a complete re skin by Rutland Willows who created the Spitfire, costing in the region of £600 - £700 with regular maintenance costs on top. There is no dedicated funding for this proud memorial so I would like to ask for donations to make sure we make good the memorial of those who sacrificed so much. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your support.

I have been in the RAF for 35 years, the Spitfire was a project I organised whilst serving at RAF Cottesmore in 2010. I feel very proud to been involved with this important project and I hope we can raise enough to see it last for years to come.
