Story
No Surrender: the fight goes on
After twenty years as a games teacher at Hill House Dave has succumbed to the horrifying symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. Dave has fought on for as long as he could, battling for seven long and hard years, but knew that the end of his career had come and it was time to hang up his trainers.
As a talented golfer, swimmer and general sportsman Dave has had to forgo his participation in these sports, but still greatly enjoys watching and discussing them. For Dave, walking and day to day functioning has become a constant battle and it is now that he needs our support.
Dave's friends and colleagues from Hill House, parents, former parents and former pupils are rallying round to raise funds to help Dave move forward and continue his fight against this devastating disease.
Funds raised will help Dave to:
Adapt his home for easier and safer living.
Adapt his car so that he can keep some of his independence.
Allow him peace of mind and not to worry about paying the next bill.
We would appreciate any donations to help Dave and his family continue on this brave, emotional and difficult journey.
We greatly thank you for kind donation.

3 years agoFriends Life has been a struggle but I've been pushing on. I live by my motto, 'No Surrender'. I've had many trips to hospital with untold medical conditions, but I bounce back. I have lost my ability to talk which is very frustrating, especially for someone who thinks he knows something about everything. At least telling someone to get lost is easy with a simple hand signal. My trip to hospital last week, an emergency, has left me very weak and tired. I often lie here thinking of my friends and the fun times we have had. Take care. Dave X

4 years agoDear friends, an update. I have a mobility scooter, the Ferrari of scooters, my legs, as I am unable to walk. Only 3 crashes so far, all speed induced. I often sit and remember that wonderful day at Barnes CC. Laughter, friendship, fun and smiles. Thank you all again. After an 8 week stay in hospital I have been diagnosed with MSA, a nasty addition to my Parkinson's, a real kick in the teeth, or possibly lower. My sense of humour is undiminished, as is my love for life. I hope to see you all soon and laugh some more. No surrender Dave
