A young angler went out fishing on Sunday 13th jan 2019!

Sadly he was hit by a wave and forced into the water, rescue services were able to get him out of the sea and airlifted to Cramlington hospital

Despite there very best efforts this young father and dedicated community member just couldn’t make it back to our village!

Can I say he was a quiet family man who doted on his partner and his child. Damian aged just 24 adored the simple things in life wanted for nothing but gave up what time he did have to help the elderly in there gardens. He worked in our local co op in Widdrington Station always polite and a well known and I will say respected fellow!

I have approached his closest and many friends for support in a fund raising extravaganza due to his family who have been left broken hearted as have members of our community.

They wanted nothing and had nothing but gave a whole lot away free! Damian has just gotten a small motorbike collected by myself so he could do what he enjoyed in his little spare time fishing and visiting his family locally

Myself David Lennox and my wife Amanda Lennox came up with this idea to help someone who’s needing help in a big way ! Local shops and businesses ie scissors n spice (cara) heavens angel cattery (us) grange garage , the junction bar, the co op Widdrington, butcher by the sea (Dave kelly)Widdrington tanning salon (Jodie barras), yum yums pizza (senol) we’re all putting up collection tins and we’re being given items to raffle from everyone within this small close community! They say charity begins at home! This is a local lad we’ve lost and like I said he had a massive heart in all and for all he did for many.

If I can get word along the north east coast to locals fishing enthusiasts! Quayside public houses restraints anyone all I’m asking is plz plz plz donate ! We don’t care if it rattles or folds. Damian’s family will be proud to know he was who he was and never forgotten! We know times are hard for each and every one of us ! Just try being Damian’s family in this moment of tragic loss . 🙏

Folk have signed a petition to have life saving rings along our tourists rout of natural beauty being Northumberland! If they donate our target is reached. Any funds collected over and during events will be dispersed to a charity within the NHS, and to the air ambulance
