    Story

I am writing to tell everyone about a brave young man called Eddy whom I met when on holiday in Kenya. I visited a woman, Regina(who was ill), who helps the poor of her community. She was explaining about those people she personally tried to help. One of them was Eddy whom she said was a very lovely person. She talked about all the people she visited and supported as much as possible. When I was leaving her home I asked if I could visit Eddy just now. His mother, Jacinta, came to take me there and it was then I met Eddy. He was living in a room which he shared with mum and sister. Eddy has been paralysed in his legs since he was 17yrs old and now he 23yrs old. On first meeting Eddy he had the sweetest smile, he was so humble. It moved me a lot his good manner. Eddy was very warm to me and I asked him if there was one thing I could do to express my love towards him what would that be? Eddy said I would like to have a Manchester United top with my name on it. I was able to get that for him and he loved it! Was so happy.

Eddy is so young to bear this paralysis of his legs. His brother left the family home when this happened, he couldn't bear to see his brother paralysed. His mum and sister cried a lot for Eddy and life can sometimes get very difficult for the family. Eddy said he too could get very down and cry. Then get very emotional and fall out with mum, but he said, "I knows she is the one loving me each day and nursing me and only she can do these things for me." Eddy explained early on in the condition when he was paralysed he had felt very sore around his back and he had a very big bed sore which needed special treatment. He told me, "my mum helped me so much with this sore, that it heeled completely. I love her so much". Eddy said I know we are poor and the cost of the treatment would be too much for my mum. As I listened to Eddy tell me about his life and how he now helps other people with repairs to their pc's and mobiles. He also told me about the cost of his treatment and I wished to God that I could help him in some way towards his treatment. Then I thought of crowdfunding when I got home.

During this time he told me he needed to get his own pc from manufacturer who were holding it due to a bill he had to pay. It felt right that I should pay for this to alleviate some the hardship he was having. At this Eddy mentioned he didn't like to be helped by people who boasted about helping him. He liked to be helped the right way if possible. Eddy told me the few times he ventured out on a wheelchair it was very difficult for him as he did not enjoy the way people would leave him stuck on cobbled stony roads, or in mud due to heavy rains and he would just be left sitting in the wheelchair. Eddy said this kind of things shocked him and he preferred to be home because of these difficult experiences.

Eddy told me some of his life before his paralysis that he was a very good midfielder in the local football team. The year before his condition his team won the cup final and it was great. They won on penalties and the only thing he has never done is take a penalty, so he never took one in the final but they won the cup. He thought he could be a good footballer. Also he got a lot of attention from girls:-) He had the charm he said with a big grin:-) Yeah he said smiling. He has a real nice character. Mostly he was just having fun and chat.

In such a short time of getting to know a little bit of Eddy's life I have grown so fond of him and have tears of joy just now of having met him, and hope I have conveyed some of the love I feel towards him. He said, "if I get well my wish is to help others who need some support".

"My dream is to walk". Eddy.

Thanks for donations given and promised, it is very kind of everyone. Also thank you to all who are showing an interest in Eddy's story. My mum, Mary, taught me to help those who are in a struggle and I've tried my best for a while. I am sure Jacinta, Eddy's mum, would appreciate my mums personality and character. I will keep praying for Eddy, and everyone involved and those who visit this page. It is team work xx
