I am raising funds for the Bridge The Gap project to help prevent suicide and raise awareness. All of us will probably know somebody who has suffered with mental health problems at some point in their life. This is a worthy cause and I am giving my support. I will be getting up close to 10ft Sand Tiger Sharks diving with them at Blue Planet Aquarium at Ellesmere Port. I will be doing this on the 27th October 2018 in their caribbean reef tank. I am terrified of sharks so believe me this will be a big challenge.

This is my story.

I first realised I suffered from Depression when I was 16 years old. I felt worthless and disliked myself! I attempted to take my life at 18. I felt like I had nobody to turn to that would understand my problem. I had nothing and I was very sad contemplating suicide everyday. I became reclusive spending days in my room alone. One day I decided to change my life I challenged myself to overcome my problem. It’s taken many years to get where I am today each day was a step forward in my recovery. Today I have 3 beautiful children, a wife that loves me, a good job and a bright future. If I can turn my life around other sufferers can. Things get better with time. When your unwell you believe there’s no way out but there is! I still take anti-depressants today I have done for 23 years I think I always will. I used to think I had to beat depression now I concentrate on managing it the best I can. Some days are difficult and I struggle with it! Always remember the sky won’t fall in on you and the world won’t stop spinning! Don’t give up on life! Life is worth living x
