Last year, following the death of her husband my 68 year old Mother was diagnosed with Mixed Dementia (Vascular and Alzheimer’s). My sister and I have been trying our best to care for Mum and keep her in her own home with no assistance (financial or social welfare) and still both trying to keep our full time jobs.

We are a family of animal lovers and I have noticed how our pets really help to calm Mum and keep her focused. I researched pet therapy and believe it to be immensely helpful for many of those affected by dementia.

With this in mind I am hoping to be able to raise funds to assist me in starting up a pet business to look after small animals while their families are away. This will mean I can look after our Mum at home, saving in demand residential places for others in need. My aim is then, in time, to expand and be able to offer and facilitate Pet Therapy Services to other dementia sufferers.

Any funds raised will go towards repurposing the garage, scullery and conservatory, building pens and appropriating small animal hutches. Any additional funds will be used to buy pens for the garden so that in the summer boarding animals can have fresh air in a safe environment.
