Story
Hello!
Recently, I travelled to Peru with the main objective of volunteering at CEBE DON JOSE DE SAN MARTIN. This is a Special Needs School in Cusco. The majority of pupils suffer from autism, down syndrome, deafness and disability. March to December are the coldest, most agonising months of the year in Cusco. During these months, the attendance rate of pupils significantly drops because their immune systems are too weak to withstand the cold weather conditions. The government is unable to fund a sustainable solution for heating, and the teachers cannot afford to buy heaters due to the low salary they receive.
Vittoria, another volunteer on this project, along with her friends, Eleonara, Beatrice and Maddalena, are supporting this cause, by donating the money raised from selling snacks weekly at their school in Italy.
Together, if we raise our target of £500, we will be able to buy 7 mobile heaters, which will provide heating for 7 out of 19 classes. We intend to raise enough money in the near future to provide heaters for the remainder of classrooms.
