Deanfield Care Home is a home in the wee town of Hawick in the Scottish Borders for those in need of residential care. My Granny moved into the home two years ago as she suffers from dementia, like a lot of the other residents there. Whilst watching the impact the disease has had her on has been tough, it has been incredible to see the work that the staff at Deanfield have put in to make the days of the residents worthwhile and full of laughs.

The home has a "comfort fund" which it uses to organise activities, events, and outings for the residents. These activities include things like being pampered, cooking classes, dancing sessions, horticultural endeavours and of course birthday parties.

To raise money for this fund I am running my first ever marathon on 26 May in Edinburgh.

£500 will go a very long way to making the retirement of the residents of Deanfield care home as good a time as it can be. I realise this is a very personal cause but anything you can contribute to make the golden days of the residents even more golden would be much appreciated.
