Myself and a good friend are embarking on a walking holiday/trip beginning of September covering 237km from Porto to Santiago in under 3 weeks . Whilst it’s a fabulous opportunity I’ve decided to raise money for charity at the same time .

After much thought I’ve decided on ‘Mind ‘ in my opinion one of many charities that probably gets overlooked .

In England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week .

Over the years I’ve been touched by friends , and work colleagues speaking with frank honesty about their struggles . I want there to be a world where mental health issues carry no stigma and people can feel safe talking to family and friends without being judged .

I don’t want anyone to feel there is no hope and resort to desperate measures of which I’ve witnessed growing up ( from secondary school , university , and adulthood and lately whilst working for the NHS in A/E ) . It’s heartbreaking and there needs to be more funding and support in the community and schools to help adults/children suffering .

I hope you can dig deep for this cause but if you can’t then please take the time to be kind . Who knows that smile or kind word to a stranger maybe enough to change their day from a truly awful one ( where they’ve used up all their energy to just get out of bed ) to an ok one which for now is enough to get them through the day x
