Story
Guyana has the highest suicide rate in the world for women and the second highest rate for men (World Health Organisation). A team from the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) are helping train 48 people from the local population to be able assess and treat people suffering from depression and anxiety, in October 2018. Our aim is that the people we train can then develop a service for the people of Guyana, which will expand both in knowledge and numbers. At least one of us will be going back in April 2019 to monitor their progress.
This is where you come in. We are providing our time for free and, at the moment, we are paying for our own travel expenses. If you are able to make a donation it would be gratefully appreciated. Any money raised will go to cover the costs of our travel expenses and teaching and evaluation materials.
In the event that we raise enough money to cover these costs any extra money will be donated to the Guyana Foundation to further their work.
