Lesley's mental condition is such that she cannot understand the destitute position she is in. She has no short term memory and is a constant danger to herself without supervision. The strain and the onus rests with her partner Andrew who is her full time carer and who's income support is linked back to the withdrawal of the majority of the benefits originally granted to Lesley by the PIP (Personal Independence Payment ) of the Department of Work & Pensions and those further allowances have subsequently also been withdrawn. The overall value of the withdrawn benefits accruing to Lesley and her partner together is about £1000 monthly and they collectively now have no income to pay for rent, rates, heat & food, apart from an approximate balance of £60 weekly which is the residue of the original allowances..

Lesley's position is backed up by medical reports from both GP and consultant neurologist, which state that her condition is incurable and will not improve.

Before Lesley was taken ill in September 2014, she and her partner Andrew were both hard working and in continuous employment, but following the events of Lesley's release from hospital, they have become involved in one long weary battle with the authorities amid accusations of malpractice, none of which have a grain of truth. Currently the whole matter is under appeal notice, backed by the intervention of the local Member of Parliament, but no benefits have been paid since early October last year, and appeals for information and action are continuously ignored.
