Elderly and Special Needs Cats are extremely difficult to rehome, partly because of the high cost of veterinary care. At Kats & Kits no cat is denied treatment due to cost. If the cat needs tests, an operation or medication (providing it is in the cat's best interest) they get it. Hence why we're trying to raise some funds to help with these costs. For instance, one of our cats, Winky Woo is 17 years old. He was in good health but suddenly one of his paws became inflamed and scabs started appearing all over his body. He was very uncomfortable and latterly, clearly in pain. A battery of tests were carried out - each one came back negative. Various treatments were given, to no effect. He was then referred to a vet specializing in skin conditions and we eventually had a diagnosis. He was given high dose steroids and other medication for several weeks followed by a maintenance dose. Winky Woo is now back to normal and enjoying life. He's eating well, likes exploring outside and loves being fussed. The cost of the veterinary treatment for this one cat alone exceeded £1000. At Kats & Kits we believe every cat, however old deserves a chance to flourish in a caring, loving environment.
