Our beautiful twins were born ultra premature at 24 weeks weighing 1.14lbs & 1.16lbs. It came as a shock as I went into labour at 23 weeks but they managed to hold on for a week until they eventually made an appearance at 24 weeks. The amazing neonatal team at Derby Hospital were on standby whilst we waited for the twins. The team was so quick to react and stabilise the twins it was amazing to see. They were transferred to Nottingham City Hospital where they stayed for 7 weeks in the High Dependency Ward. These 7 weeks were the most crucial for the twins. We were told on numerous occasions we would lose both of them but the team never gave up. The whole team where faultless. The facilities we were offered were outstanding; from food to a room so we could be close to our babies day and night. We stayed in Nottingham City Hospital with the twins for 6 weeks.
 Once the twins were stable enough we were transferred back to Derby Royal Hospital where they stayed for a further 9 weeks where the team worked on making them stronger. 
We never will be able to thank the two teams for all they did for our twins and our family. But we can help them a little by raising funds to help with life saving equipment, making the stay for other families in NeoNatal a little easier or enhancing parent and family facilities.
We kick started the fundraising by asking family and friends to donate to our charities instead of having a grand first birthday celebration.
Mukti, the twins older sister will be cutting her hair to help 3 charities.  Her hair will be donated to the little Princess Trust and the money raised will be donated equally to the two NeoNatal Units.
Throughout the year we will also be holding small events to raise further donations, details will be uploaded.
