As some of you know I am a keen (albeit mediocre) golfer and this year I am the (proud) captain of the Diggers Golf Society (based at Letchworth Golf Club) who’s aim, other than to play golf, is to raise money for a local charity – The Riding School for the Disabled.

Our main fundraising event is our annual charity day at Letchworth Golf Club, where we have a competition followed by auctions, raffles and fun activities (putting competitions etc.) to help increase the funds for the charity. All of our auction lots and raffle prices are donations, and every penny of the funds raised goes to the charity because all of the golfers and Letchworth Golf Club cover the other costs directly.

The Diggers Golf Society is the main sponsor of the Stevenage branch of the RDA (Charity Registration Number 1074422) and for the last four years we have been able to donate in excess of £9000 a year. Because of the efforts of the Society, the RDA have been able to provide an additional day of riding per week for their disabled riders. Over the last 40 years The Diggers have raised in excess of £290,000.00 for charity.

If any of you are able to provide a donation, or maybe club together to sponsor a couple of holes (7 & 9 maybe?!) it would be massively appreciated. As stated above anything you're happy to donate will go directly to RDA Stevenage which relies heavily on the Diggers for its work.
