Story
Every girl deserves dignity.
Every day, millions of girls in the developing world face a number of challenges: hunger, disease, abuse, death of parents to a name a few. Now on top of this–they just got their period. With no one to explain what this is and no access to sanitary towels they resort to cutting their t-shirts for rags, feel ashamed to attend school, and in some severe cases, turn to prostitution.
We can help.
In 2016, a group of us got together to tackle this and we've been doing this by reaching one girl at a time. We teamed up with VSO, the UK's biggest NGO, and an inspiring charity based in Kenya, to distribute high quality menstrual cups and vital health training to girls in rural Kenya.
We are already working with communities on the ground to identify the most marginalised girls in the Southern Kenya region. We will be using donations to fund multiple training sessions delivered by professionals, in where each girl will be given their own menstrual cup.
Each cup lasts up to 10 years and the training is incredibly powerful–empowering girls and using education to address gender based issues. Two years later, we've provided sanitary access to 1,954 girls–who never have to deal with this issue again.
For her: The Cup Project 2018
This October, the four of us are going to Kenya with an aim to train another 200 girls and see how we can take this project even further. This project has showed us WE ALL can all make an impact and right some of the wrongs in the world. Its even easier if we do it together, and if we don't do it–who will?
Please donate what you can and let us know if you want to learn more! *Key Fact: 100% of your donation will go directly to the girls.
Big thanks and love,
