    Story

Inspired by the Tony Robbins Foundation, I am organising a Diwali Basket Brigade initiative which will involve packing and then delivering food hampers to vulnerable and socially deprived households in and around Birmingham ahead of Diwali.

The event will take place on Saturday 3rd November 2018 from 9am in Birmingham and will involve packing food hampers to be personally delivered by the volunteers on the same day. Deliveries will be made to households from all faiths/backgrounds and the list of households in need is being provided by Birmingham City Council and various other local charities.

The hampers will be filled with a variety of vegetarian food items from local food suppliers and through voluntary donations. We have assumed that each basket will cost £12.50 to prepare and this will be sufficient to feed a family of four. It would be wonderful if each volunteer (or family of volunteers) could donate a minimum of £25 so as to sponsor 2 baskets of food. Of course if you are able to donate more it would be gratefully received (most appreciated).

I truly hope you are not only able to donate your money towards the cost of the food baskets but also your time to help prepare and deliver the baskets on the day.

If you are interested in supporting on the day please email me at diwalibasketbrigade@gmail.com. We will need the support of as many volunteers as possible so your input will be gratefully received.

“One small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds. It takes only one light to dispel the darkness, and even just one basket can bring hope to a family.” Anthony Robbins
