    Story

Hi! I am Sarah Jayne. I am having brain surgery on 1st May 2019 as I suffer with drug resistant epilepsy. I have the luxury of being able to opt for an operation that may give me siezure freedom but sadly dogs do not. I am excited at the prospect and the change it can potentially make to my life!

***I am shaving all my hair off to raise money for dogs that have epilepsy live on the following page Parks & Meadows: Supplier of natural treats and herbal care for your pets!*** Date to be announced in a couple of weeks in the comments below. Sponsor me by donating to my Just Giving page, every little helps. Watching something you love so dearly and that has become part of the family have awful, frightening seizures is something I cannot explain. I am so passionate about this that I am in the process of getting a Parliamentary Petition set up to help these type of families and the way that Pet Insurance is regulated. Help me help others to look after their four-legged children!

It takes a very special person or family to look after a dog with epilepsy. Back in January 2018 our little Cocker, aged 21 months at the time, was diagnosed as having 'idiopathic epilepsy' after several frightening seizures. Idiopathic means no cause can be diagnosed during life and no lesions are demonstrable at autopsy. I started a Facebook group in February 2018 strictly for the UK (as the parameters are different to global) called Dogs With Epilepsy (UK Only). We have steadily grown but there are many on our group and other dog epilepsy groups too that struggle, not because they are irresponsible, but because they have run into difficulties with insurance companies not covering them anymore. For example, they will only do a 12 month policy (I cannot name these companies unfortunately) the pet is diagnosed with epilepsy during this time hence they will not cover when the policy is renewed. It is simply not right! There are NO insurance companies that will take on pre-existing conditions unless you have not visited the vet for 3 months which with such a condition as epilepsy is just not possible. Then you have on the flip side of the coin Debbie who 'Just had our renewal for insurance from ******** was £339.99 up to £747.82 a rise of £407.83!!!' Let's give them the help they deserve!

The donations will go into a fund to start a Registered Charity as there is no other type of this much needed help out there in the UK. If we can reach this target, AT LEAST, it will help me access all kinds of funding available to registered charities meaning that I can achieve my dream of helping others. I cannot even begin to tell you how much your support means to me.

One percent in a day! By my calculations, if we can raise just 1% per day then the goal amount will be raised by July 9th 2019! How awesome would that be? I can tell you... VERY!!!
