    Story

    Where it all began..

The profile picture is of our Wedding day, 22/12/2017. Little did we know then, full of hope and dreams for the future; that just some 8 months later stuart would be diagnosed with a deadly form of brain tumour a Glioblastoma.

In April 2018 stuart and I were lucky enough to enjoy a honeymoon. We had a fab time and spoke often about our future together as Husband and Wife.

Early August Stu became forgetful, started saying the wrong words and had frequent dizzy spells. At first the GP thought Stuart was feeling stressed, and prescribed antidepressants. Within a couple of days Stuart told me he couldnt go in to work. He has always been career driven completing, a graduate scheme with BAE to become a Project Manager. Not one to miss work I began to worry.

    Hospital

    I rang 111 thinking Stuart had a bad virus. They sent out an Ambulance crew. It was decided he should go to A&E. They asked Stuart where he would like to go, Chorley or Preston hospital. Stu being Stu, said Chorley; as its closer and he thought it would be quieter than Preston! They did their tests on Stu including a CT scan. A Dr came in to Stuarts cubicle and said;

Stuart, you have something on the brain.

My heart sank. I panicked, and asked what he meant?? Stuart was unable to ask any questions of his own. They told me they didnt know what it was, but that he needs to go to Preston hospital to have surgery.

    Blue Lighted to Preston

Stuart went to Preston in an ambulance, and he managed to get a bed on Critical Care Unit. They immediatley began to give him steroids to reduce the swelling on his brain. The next few days were agony. Not knowing what was wrong with Stuart and seeing him so unwell was heartbreaking.

Stu was then told he had a tumour on the brain. They weren‘t sure whether it is benign or cancerous. They woild have to do an operation to remove as much of the tumour as possible, and to take a biospy. Stu’s opeartion was on his Dads Birthday 17/08/18. We were told his operation would be the most important opeartion happening that day, and that the operation itself was risky. The operation took over 6 hours but whilst in the recovery room he rang me to tell me he was ok. ♥️

    Results Day

The days after the operation we wondered endlessly about what the results of the biopsy would be. Praying it wasnt Cancer.

Stu got his appointment through. We sat in a small room with a Dr, Specialist Nurse, and Family.

We have got the results back from the biospy, and I am afraid you have a tumour called a Glioblastoma which is a particuarly agressive form of tumour, and its grade four.

I looked at Stu and the shock was overwhelming. What did this mean? We knew it wasnt good but would have to wait for an appointment with his Neuro oncologist to find out what can be done.

    Meeting the Oncologist

We met Stu’s Oncologist who told us the catastrophic news that on average Stuart has 12-18 months to live, with the help of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

After the shock Stuart found his fight, and began Radiotherapy alongside Chemotherapy. He finished his six week treatment plan the day after his 30th Birthday. 🧠🎉

    What Now?

Stuart is currently on a four week break from Chemotherapy, and has completed Radiotherapy. He is very tired and still has a lot of swelling on the brain. we are constantly looking for new, and alternative therapies that may help Stuarts survival rate. As you can imagine alternative treatments away from the NHS dont come cheap, and some are abroad.

We are now trying to raise funds so that Stuart has the best chances of suriving this Cancer long enough to do the things we dreamt about such as; having Children.

Wherever Stuart needs to go, and whatever he needs to have; I want to ensure money is not an obsticle, when Stuart faces so many.

If you can help in any way, we would be grateful. ♥️
