Imagine being out for a drive with your husband, you start arguing over something small....again. This time it's different, he threatens to drive off a bridge and kill you both and you believe him. You think of your three children and as he swerves, you jump. 70mph and you jump from the car.

My very best friend & rock has been to hell & back. For seven years, the man she loved started to be more & more controlling, telling her what she could & couldn't wear, who she could & couldn't speak to & threatened to kill her & their children if she dared to question him or leave. When he was arrested, the police officer stated it was the worst case of mental abuse they had witnessed in 20 years service. He controlled every aspect of her life & became physical if she questioned it. A year ago she started working a part time job in secret in order to save funds & we were working to plan her escape.

He found out & stole her money, physically hurt her, emotionally blackmailed her but she still stayed strong & left. He didn't take it well & ended up in prison for a short amount of time after causing a car accident & then welding a knife in public. In this time she had to sell all of their belongings in order to survive & continue working even thought his threats were still very real & after he tried to intimidate her colleagues. She carried on, not once taking a day off, not once letting her sadness & fears show & still caring perfectly for three beautiful children.

She managed to move to a small flat & stayed organised to keep going forwards desperately trying to keep everything as normal as possible.

This lady has been the very image of strength, she has fought solidly for the last year to keep herself & her children safe & provided for.

She was told to run, to move, to change hers & the childrens names. The money will help her with a deposit for a new home for her & her children far away from her abuser.
