Dougie is our much adored French bulldog. He was diagnosed with a stage 2 heart murmur as a young puppy but was happy & healthy & showing no signs of illness. A few months ago he collapsed & we rushed him to our vet. After further tests he was diagnosed with an enlarged right ventricle & placed on medication to treat heart failure. Our insurance company are unable to cover him as he was diagnosed with a heart murmur within two weeks of policy set up. A subsequent long awaited referral to see a specialist has now revealed he is in advanced heart failure due to an extremely narrow pulmonary artery which is so very narrow the specialist vet is unable to undertake lifesaving pulmonic stenosis (a balloon placed in the artery to widen) which would allow him to be well again. Our only option now is for a specialist heart surgeon in London to perform a critical heart bypass which will allow Dougie the full, happy, contented life he truly deserves. This surgery costs £10,000. We have exhausted all of our funds over the past few months between medications, veterinary appointments, specialist appointments etc. Without this pioneering surgery the outlook is heartbreakingly bleak.
