15 years ago i used inheritance money to purchase a bus so i could give back to the community. We used the bus to take a group of people with down syndrome on days out to various locations like stone henge, the beach and other national heritage sites to name a few, all on a volunteer basis and funded by myself and some of the support workers. This led to the bus being called ‘the happy bus’, as when ever they saw it the smiles would beem from ear to ear. However after 15 years some 300+ thousand miles, the happy bus is no more due to needing repairs beyond economical means. In would like to raise money to purchase a new bus, one which will include adaptions for more users and a few more seats to add some extra smiles to our group. I hope anyone can help improve the lives by continuing to provide for these wonderful people, as at the moment i feel i have let them down.
