Drax church is over 1,000 years old and dates back to the Domesday Book. It has enormous heritage within it's walls, and hosts the local Read school as well as many visitors every year, who come to see the Jacobean pew ends and Cleristory which date back to medieval times. In addition Drax is at the heart of it's local community and looking to find new ways to serve locals, well into the future. However every year, our running costs outstrip our ability as a small church to keep paying donations, and we do not currently recieve any state funding. We are therefore appealing for donations to help us secure the insurance for our building in 2019, so that our beautiful heritage is kept secure and safe. This year we are hosting a Gift day on Friday the 2nd November from 10-3pm and welcome visitors and helpers who can give time and energy, with a range of DIY jobs, as well as looking for funds.
