Story
In Kelmscott School, our Youth Health Champions are campaigning to put a stop to period poverty by asking the UK government to issue Period Cards (P-Cards) to women in full time studies or on means tested benefits under 25, to grant them free sanitary wear and make these products VAT exempt.
We want feminine product manufacturers to donate products to the domestic violence refuges, international charities supporting homeless women and girls. Any fundraising proceeds would not only be used to raise the profile of the campaign but profits would be divided between charities supporting women and girls. We have the support of our local authority and the Mayor of London's Team London. One in seven girls have struggled to afford sanitary wear (Plan International)
