Story
In January my brother in law Duncan Atkinson, had a seizure whilst getting ready for work, and was admitted to hospital. Following a CT scan he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He had an operation in February to remove part of the tumour, as due to the position it cannot be removed fully.
Whilst in theatre, Dunc unfortunately had a stroke, which has left him partially blind and unable to see on the right hand side of both eyes. (Homonymous hemianopia) He was unable to talk, and has been undergoing intensive speech therapy to help him with his speech, as well as help with reading and writing, something he is having to learn again. Duncan is currently undergoing radiotherapy for 6 weeks, and will have chemotherapy for a year in an attempt to shrink the tumour.
Our relative Chris Lambert is undertaking the “Race to the Stones” race in July to raise funds to help Duncan, my sister Jenni and their two young children, Freya 8 and Penny 5, through this difficult time financially.
Race to the Stones is a 100km race over one day from Lewknor in Oxfordshire to Avebury, with a gruelling 3704ft climb over the course. He will be doing this on 13th July.
Through sponsoring Chris we would like to raise £2000 (or more would be amazing) to support Duncan and his family and help reduce the financial stress caused by being unable to work as he recovers.
Thank you in advance for your donations, and please leave Chris a message for the race. Thank you.

5 years agoWOW, what a day. I was helped all the way round by Jenni, Duncan and my Mum. They saw me off, and at the end, at half past two in the morning, they were there, still laughing, still cheering. It was great. The messages of support you sent kept me going. At one point our Philip said that he was so impressed with the day that he was going to increase his donation from a penny a mile to twopence. I knew then I had to finish! Thank you, thank you, everyone for your support, … YOU are amazing. PS I am sorry I interrupted the tennis!
