Every day, more refugees and displaced people from around the world arrive in Paris, hoping to find safety and support. Instead, many of them find a place on the streets in the cold, underneath a road bridge if they are lucky. The Welcome Centre in Porte de la Chappelle is simply not big enough to accommodate all who arrive. As two people are processed, two more arrive from the unofficial camp out in the street, and many more join the hundreds waiting on the streets.

I am returning to volunteer at Easter this year to help in any way I can.

Because of a lack of facilities, bedding and clothing are impossible to keep clean and dry and problems such as body lice and scabies are rife. Volunteers on the ground work tirelessly to wash and replace bedding and clothing and to provide new clothing to those who arrive with nothing.

As well as offering my time, I would to be able to take a small financial contribution to help the groups on the ground, help those in the direst of need. If I could take some funds to help with the cost of washing bedding, feeding people, or simply offering clean, dry socks, alongside a little dignity, I would be very happy.
