Story
In May 2019 I will be travelling to the Fiji Islands with Think Pacific to volunteer on a month long project teaching in a primary school and helping a local community. I will be based in a Fijian Village and will participate in academic teaching in the morning and sports coaching in the afternoon. I will also be living with a Fijian family and therefore getting involved in every day life. The money I raise will go towards trying to solve poverty in Fiji. Over one third of Fijian children grow up in poverty and live on as little as $1 a day. Sadly only 50% of Children have access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation. Think Pacific are aiming to change all of this and in particular help the education system in Fiji by replenishing school resources, provide teacher training, help rebuild essential facilities and increase standards of education.
