As some of know, my daughter, Eila, is big into her gymnastics. Eila trains three times a week with her squad, Epping SC Gymnastics and this year they have been selected to be part of Team GB for the World Gymnaestrada taking place in Dornbirn, Austria in July.

The Gymnaestrada is a huge, Olympic type event which only happens every four years and, at which, countries from all over the world come together to perform and celebrate gymnastics! Eila’s squad is one of only a handful chosen in the country to represent Team GB

As you can imagine, taking over 20 gymnasts and their minders to another country for a week costs a lot of time and money. They have been undertaking numerous events and raising money for the last 18 months but are still a bit short. Their main fundraising event in the Summer 2018 was a bit of a let down because the date clashed with England’s World Cup Quarter-final game against Sweden!

So, as a last push in order to raise the remaining funds, the squad as a whole is taking part in a sponsored cycle ride on 18th May on spin bikes. They will be attempting to cycle 715 miles, which is the distance from Epping to Dornbirn, Austria.
