Next month on the 5th April Im going to be sleeping out on the streets of Belfast from 7pm to 7am as part of Team Havens annual Big Sleep Out to raise awareness and raise funds to support the vulnerable in Belfast and I would be so grateful if you could sponsor me no amount is too small. It will be put into Havens food bank and onto its outreach tables and into the hands of those who need it. I have been with Haven since September last year and part of their Saturday night Team so I can tell you from first-hand experience the incredible work the group does. Every Monday to Saturday evening throughout the year a Team of volunteers set up in the street in the City Centre providing hot dinners, hot drinks, bottled water,sandwiches,snacks and donations of warm clothing. The dinners and sandwiches are homemade by team members and everything on offer is either donated directly or funded by donations to Haven. Much more than that I have seen how Haven provide a listening ear for people in heart-breaking circumstances. The vulnerability, isolation and powerlessness of being homeless or living in food poverty is something many of us cant begin to imagine. I've witnessed the difference being listened to, supported and treated like a human being makes and the kindness and hope it spreads. I've played a very small role in Haven and by taking part in the Sleep Out am not only hoping to raise awareness but also some much needed funds to keep doing the amazing work it does.
