, it is also knowI have started this crowdfunding page in the hope that i can raise enough money to give my partner a better life than he has right now , if i arrange days out with the kids we are now at a point where i have to leave him at home and show him pics and videos on fb so that he can see his kids having fun . In 2011karl started having seizures and was misdiagnosed for 3 years with syncope , he was pumped full of steroids and started developing other health issues recieving even more meds , causing huge weight gain . He lost his license and therefore lost his job driving the school buses. He developed chronic sciatica and started using crutches or sticks, problem being pain is one of the triggers for seizures so we ended up with a very heavy wheelchair as i was struggling to hold him when he started going into a seizure . This was very helpful but karl is too big now for me to be able to push him , manage kerbs etc .For the last 2 years karl has developed swelling and burning symptoms in his feet and hands, they go bright red and he cannot hold his walking sticks and struggles to get shoes on let alone walk , he was diagnosed with neuropathy but meds did not work and a neurologist said it was not neuropathy , last week he saw another specalist who said he has erythromalagia , its rare , its painful , its difficult to treat , there is no cure and it could get worse . It is also known as man on fire syndrome . Karl is very low in mood and isolated , if he gets out of the house his mood deteriorates very quickly as tbe pain is so intense , this will cause multiple seizures . We hope that if we can raise the money for a freedom chair karl can at the very least get some enjoyment going out with his family and not being in as much pain as he would be walking . This chair has an attendant control also so if he has had a seizure i can control it . It can manage kerbs and hills it is designed for his bigger frame .
