This summer I will be travelling to Zambia to participate in the Wallace Group Volunteer Zambia programme. The initiative supports the athletic development of young people in Zambia, while also aiming to empower local communities.

I will be spending 6 weeks in the capital of Lusaka and then a further week on a rural placement. Myself and the team will be delivering P.E. lessons to children aged 8 to 18 year olds, while also mentoring peer leaders within the community; I will be coaching netball.

In preparation for the trip we have each been tasked with fundraising £2000 in order to run the programme and provide sports equipment for the children. As part of my fundraising efforts I will be taking part in a 12 hour cycle-a-thon with my volunteering team from St Andrews. I would be very grateful for any donations in helping me to achieve my goal.

I am so excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to meet all the children who I’ll be coaching, and to share my love of netball with them.
