Hi my name is Elisha and in September I will be running the Ipswich half marathon. I know what you are all thinking, Elisha, run, you must be joking but there is a reason behind it. I am aiming to raise as much money as I possibly can to donate to the Neonatal Unit (framlingham ward) at Ipswich hospital. The ward takes care of sick babies when they are born and the work that they do is incredible. The staff really do make a difference and I hope that whatever money I can raise will help them continue with all the amazing care that they provide.

This ward at Ipswich hospital is very close to my heart as they took care of my baby girl for the first two weeks of her life. Darcy was born six weeks early via emergancy c section and it was the scariest time of my life however the one thing that reassured me and kept me going was the fact that I knew she was in safe hands under the care of the unit. The staff are so friendly and were there every step of the way to help me and Ben get through the highs and lows and we can‘t thank them enough for everything that they have done!

So if you have anything at all that you could dontate so that we can hopefully help the unit and make sure that they can provide the same care they did for us, for all the other parents and babies that need it!

Some of you may be wondering why the money is not getting sent straight to the ward and that is because they don‘t have there own charity and also our plan is to take the money in ourselves. Darcy’s birthday is on the 20th September and the half marathon is on the 22nd! This means that by the time the run is over and we have collected all the money we will be able to take Darcy in a year on and show them how far she has come on because of there care and also hand them the money that they truly deserve!
