I'm running the Great North Run on September 9th and Bristol Half Marathon on September 23rd, 2018, to raise funds for 3 charities in Bishop Auckland who work with families in need offering support, advice and key services - Feeding Families North East, Shildon Alive and Woodhouse Close Community Project.

A year ago I started a Couch to 5k running course with Red Kites a local running club. Running 5k was a huge step for me - inspired by that success, I applied for the GNR and was successful. As the Bristol Half Marathon was two weeks later and I have family in the area, I thought it would be a great achievement to take part in that as well (I might regret that idea!). Training has been hard and there have been times when I've thought about not going out but knowing that I'm running to raise vital funds for 3 local charities, helping families in need has kept me going. I know the money that I raise will go to support families who really need a helping hand - the charities all do great work and I'm delighted that I can help them in a small way.
