Story
Our friend Elke Johnson has been bravely battling cancer for around 18 months now. She is a dear and trusted friend, wife and mother of two and has always been someone we could all depend on during hard times.
She has had extensive cancer treatment in the UK and also more recently in her country of birth, Germany. Sadly whilst over there her cancer became terminal and there is nothing more the doctors can do to help her. When the time comes she has chosen to be cremated in Germany.
She will leave behind two beautiful children aged 5 and 7 and her husband Pete who has had to spend the last year flying to and from Germany, trying to juggle work, supporting Elke and his children and paying bills. This is on top of having the constant fear of losing his wife and how he will cope bringing up their two children alone back in Littleborough.
I am hoping to raise a little bit of money to help support Pete and his two young children and hopefully bring a little respite in what is an awful and upsetting situation for all of their family and friends.
Anything you could give to help would be appreciated, thank you.

5 years agoThank you so much to everyone who has donated to the page. It will go a long way to help Pete and his children and he really appreciates the help and support. Just to update there will be a service held at St Andrews church in Dearnley at 12:30 on Saturday 6th April. All are welcome and it is asked that people wear bright and sparkly clothing to reflect Elkes personality and love of glitter.

5 years agoI feel incredibly sad having to write this, but sadly today Elke lost her battle with cancer. She was an amazing person, friend, wife and mother and myself and Catherine feel privileged to have known her and for her to have been such a big part of ours and our children’s lives and we will miss her terribly. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, whilst it won’t bring her back it will hopefully at least provide a little relief to Pete when it comes to paying for the funeral and starts to think about coming back home with his children
