Hi Everyone we are raising money for Ellé to get a new lightweight wheelchair that she may need to help her around the house

***To raise money her Dad and a few others fellow volunteers are going to wax their legs. ***

But here’s a little background on Elle’s situation.

On 31st December Ellé fell off her hover board, she didn’t have pain at first but 5 days later the pain set in and we didn’t know the cause, after weeks of being in and out of hospital and several doctors investigating the issue we finally had an answer - she has been diagnosed with a condition called CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)

What is CRPS - it’s a rare debilitating, painful condition that can effect children and teenagers as well as adults.

The condition is a malfunction of the central and peripheral nervous system.

There is no known cure, but a number of treatments to manage the pain.

It’s more common in girls than boys and It occurs after an bad fall or surgery.

A study in 2016 estimated that the incident is 1.2 per 100,000 children 5-15 years old are effected but this.

Here are some symptoms

*constant burning, gnawing, shooting & stabbing pain

*allodynia - unable to tolerate a light touch or clothing

*hyperalgesia - excessive sensitivity to pain

*swelling

*weakness in the affected limb and muscle

*decreased range of motion

* tremors and spasms in CRPS area

* skin colour - leg turning purple and freezing cold

*sleeping problems

*problems weight bearing

And many more psychological issues that go along with it.
