Story
Why Does Jo need to go to Arkansas, USA?
Jo has been steadily getting worse over the last five years. It started with a couple of minor accidents that she just never got better from. Now she is house-bound and often bed-bound. I am writing this as a good friend, who has seen Jo at her best and at her worst. Her best is not good. If she makes an effort to do anything (that involves leaving the house), she pays for it with days in bed afterwards. She is in constant pain and can hardly walk. When she’s well enough to get out of bed, she ensures she has her heat pad on her back, comfy clothes on that won’t cause her added pain to her body and a place where she can rest her head.
She doesn’t moan. But you can see so clearly that life is not what it should be for her. It’s simple things we all take for granted that she misses. She would love to be the one to take her children to school every day. She would love to be able to pop to the shop for milk. She would love to cook her family a meal.
Fibromyalgia is the diagnosis the doctors have given. You can read about what it is like here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/fibromyalgia/symptoms/
Or here: http://www.fmauk.org/2-uncategorised/52-what-is-fibromyalgia
There is a clinic in the States that helps people with neurological disorders. Jo has thoroughly researched the effectiveness of their treatment and it works. There is an extremely high success rate that goes far beyond placebo results. It is the only known clinic in the western world that treats fibromyalgia successfully. Britain’s NHS just doesn’t know enough about the condition and hasn’t the money to be setting up similar clinics in the UK any time soon. This clinic is Jo’s only hope - she has tried everything that the NHS has to offer without success. We are trying to raise the funds to send her to the Neurologic Relief Centre in Arkansas. You can read about the clinic here: https://www.facebook.com/TheNeurologicReliefCenter/
If you would like to, please donate. Any amount will help and will have an impact not just for Jo, but for her children, husband, family and friends who hate seeing her suffer without a visible end.

Hello. I'm a forty-something wife and mum of two who teaches part time and fills the rest of her time with a lot of stuff. Life is busy and my health is crucial to enable me to live it. My friend Jo doesn't have that privilege and it makes me so grateful that I do.
