    Story

In September 2018 I visited Zalo Primary School in Binga, Zimbabwe. At the time the school building was a sparsely thatched shade which hardly offered any protection to adverse weather conditions. Moreover there were no chairs, desks, teaching boards, stationery nor other essential basic teaching and learning aids. The only text book for each class was a teacher's copy. Due to a lack of sporting kits, the only sporting activity was athletics . I struggled to see how any child could learn and achieve their full potential in this current setting .

In December 2018 I visited Zalo Primary School again. I was encouraged by the fact that the community had started to get together, mobilised resources and had constructed 1 classroom block.

With the help and support from family and friends, Hope Community Support Services donated prescribed text books (1 text book to 3 children) in each of the essential subjects from Early Child Development (ECD) to grade 5. We also donated footballs, netballs, stationery (including pens, pencils, rulers, exercise books erasers), teaching boards, board markers, dusters and trophies for achievements.

Hope Community Support Services Trust's objective is to continue to work with the community to ensure that the children receive education which is similar to that of their peers in other developed parts of the country.

To achieve this we aim send a shipment of educational materials consisting of stationary, reading books, desks and chairs, computers, photocopier, sport kits, bicycles, sewing and knitting machines, clothing items, and other educational toys and games.

We believe that the shipment (once delivered) will:

    1. Improve staff morale

    2. Enhance the teaching and learning processes

    3. Contribute towards the realisation of a conducive learning environment for each of these less fortunate pupils.

Your donation will contribute towards the achievement of each individual child's potential and the realisation of their hopes for a better future with increased life opportunities.
