My partner and I, both 20 this year, live in a cramped room in his mum’s house with limited access to the kitchen and hardly enough money to support the two of us. This is why when we discovered recently that I am pregnant with our first child, we knew we needed to find a way to scrape together enough money to try and support our child when they are born.

There are a lot of things preventing us from achieving this such as a severe lack of work available to us in our area, my aspergers and bipolar disorder which make it a challenge to work, and his depression. All this, on top of the fact that we risk being made homeless before the baby is born because there isn’t space for us where we are.

At the moment, we can barely afford to feed ourselves, and so rely on other people for things like evening meals which we don‘t always get and extra food for ourselves. We find it very difficult to face the fact that our child could go hungry and begin their life without a home if we don’t find the money we need to support them. We would very willingly go without food to ensure our child gets fed but we really hope it doesn’t get to that point as we struggle enough with our mental health.

Our goal is £15,000 as we feel it is a reasonable number to aim for but would love to beat our goal and go above and beyond. If we raise enough money we will be able to find somewhere to live and feed our child, which is all either of us care about.
