Story
For our Law house fundraising week we have chosen to support the Second Chance Project. We have chosen the charity for its personal connections to us due to the charity being set up by Alex Rae, the father of two pupils in law house, it is a small non-profit organisation directly helping our community, based in the heart of the city on Sauchiehall Street.
The Second Chance Project is a Glasgow based abstinence programme which helps recovering alcoholics and drug users. Specifically, drug users are treated without the aid of methadone- another drug- for rehabilitation but rather they give people a range of treatment options to help them overcome these addictions, while also offering learning the essentials to have a normal life, such as help with money and cooking. The second chance project have already helped around 550 people overcome their addictions and with our support they hope to continue to help many more.
It is clear that the second chance project is hugely influential on the lives of the people needing their support as one graduate of the programme stated “I will be forever grateful to the staff at the Second Chance Project – they helped me change my own life and my families”
Thank you for supporting Law and the Second Chance Project!
