In January 2019 I will be going to the Fijian island Kadavu to volunteer with Think Pacific Foundation. Think Pacific is a small charity which is directly partnered with the Fijian government, working through education and sports projects to improve participation in schools and extra curricular activities in more rural and deprived villages in Fiji.

I will be based in Nakaseleka - a small village of 11 families - for 2 months along with a group of other volunteers. We will spend the mornings helping in a primary school teaching maths and English and in the afternoons we will be running a sports club and doing music and creative activities with the children. I am choosing to go with this organisation as their projects are sustainable, providing long term support for the communities they go into and putting an emphasis on training local people. I also know that I will benefit hugely and learn a lot from this experience and am very lucky to have the opportunity to be part of a Fijian community.

I am trying to raise £1800 which is the cost of the project. 30% of this will go directly towards resources and support for the Fijian schools and communities that Think Pacific work with.
