    Story

8 students from the University of Exeter, as part of the Enactus Exeter Society, trying to break the cycle of poverty in the slums of Nakuru through the power of social enterprise. Specifically working in the Kwa Murugi community in Kenya, alongside a local charity, to exponentially enhance the quality of life of the residents.

A total of £130,000 has already been invested into the area, which has allowed for initiatives such as: the building of a new school, play grounds, of clean water systems and so on.

Enactus Exeter wishes to start moving towards implementing some more entrepreneurial solutions in the slums, instead of the community solely depending on the charity.

The slum continues to face a whole host of issues including access to electricity, lighting, clean cooking stoves, computers and much more. The sole purpose of this fundraiser is to take a trip to Kwa Murugi to conduct a thorough and detailed needs assessment to understand which particular issue from food poverty, access to health facilities and clean water, we can solve via our enterprise, so we can have the biggest social impact.
