This is not something we ever wanted to have to do but it's now got to a point where it is completely necessary for us to do it.
Ethan and us desperately need a wheelchair accessible car. It's got to the point where it's no longer safe for us to lift ethan in and out of the car or his wheelchair. At the moment we lift ethan into an adapted car seat and then take apart his chair and lift it into the boot. Ethan is no longer light enough to lift safely and at home is fully hoisted. We are slowly damaging our backs which we will need for the future for caring for ethan.
We don't fit into the criteria for a grant for the down payment for a car on the mobility scheme as Steve earns above their braket. However the amount Steve earns is not an amount which allows us lots being left over. We live comfortably and it allows me to not have to work due to being able to care for ethan who often doesn't make it to school due to illness, seizures and appointments. But we do not have money left over to save. We have no savings. We don't get holidays every year, I. Fact we haven't been away as a family for 3 years at least and that was only a weekend.
That's why we are calling on our friends and family. We know times are tough and we hate having to do this but we know you support us no matter what. Please if you could spare a few pounds please we would be so grateful.
