    Story

I am seeking help for a sweet female dog who currently lives in the Seychelles . Faith was left paralyzed after a hit and run accident but has improved immensely and it is my hope she will eventually walk again!

I have been fostering Faith for Seychelles Animal Welfare Society for the past 18 months. I am having to leave the country soon and my worries are that she will not continue to get the time, care or treatment that she needs to continue her recovery. I am working along side another Animal Charity (Aid Rescue) in the Isle of Man, my home country, to help find a forever home for her. Our plan is to fly her, along with my own adopted rescue dogs and place her in a foster home until we find a suitable permanent home.

As you can imagine it is a long process and very expensive! Whilst I am still here in Seychelles ( Until January 2019) I would like to do anything that I can for Faith to give her the life and home that she deserves! I am already transporting my own 4 rescue dogs from the Seychelles and whilst I can help a little towards Faith's funds I cannot do it alone.

Those of you who follow my rescue stories on facebook will know of Faith and her long journey! For those of you who do not, please read on to hear her story.....

Seychelles Animal Welfare Society were informed of a hit and run incident involving a dog. As a member of the society I was called to respond to the incident. I arrived at the scene to find a frightened and confused dog at the side of the road. Faith's sweet nature shined through from the very beginning as she allowed me to wrap her up and move her to the safety of the car.

We rushed Faith to the vets where we were sadly informed that she had suffered a severe back injury leaving her unable to walk. Also we soon realized that she had recently given birth, but unfortunately after days of searching we were unable to find her puppies.

Days after her rescue I began to worry for Faith's mental state as she was extremely confused, depressed and would not eat. I feared she would not accept her condition and would be very unhappy. After a few tense weeks I began to see a spark and strength in Faith and it was then I knew she was a fighter. Bonding with my adopted rescue dogs and myself helped Faith get over the loss of her puppies and it wasn't long before she soon had her famous smile, which she now wears every minute of the day!

I decided to foster Faith at my home as she needed more time and care then the already over-stretched animal shelter could provide as she needed daily physio and swimming sessions. I have seen a dramatic difference in Faith's recovery over the past year, from being told she would never walk again or move from the waist down , to seeing her wag her tail for the first time was the biggest realization that there was a possibility she could walk again! Since then Faith has continued to surprise me and others with her continual; progress. She can now flex and move her hind legs, pushing herself into a standing position, and although she still needs a lot more work on her balance and strength, everyday we can see a noticeable improvement; the biggest of which was when we received a donated wheelchair a few months ago. Since then her recovery has come on leaps and bounds and she is even showing initial signs of walking. Seeing Faith in her wheelchair is a complete joy as she is now able to run with the pack and enjoy freedom again - she is now a well adjusted, energetic, happy girl who loves being surrounded by her canine and human friends!

Below is a break down of what the funds will be used for, anything left over will be put toward Faith's physio sessions or any extra costs.

    GBP

    Medical costs 100

    Carrier 121

    Car/Boat tickets 156

    Cargo Costs 600

    Handling fees 121

    Customs fees 36

    Checking in Fees 45

    Fund Raising Fees 42

    Total 1200 ( Seychelles Rupees 20,236 )

The funds will be sent to a GBP bank account in the Isle of Man, if your currency is in Seychelles Rupees I can give details of a local Seychelle account to avoid transfer charges.

This is large goal to reach in a short amount of time so please help me help Faith! Any donation, however small or large, will be hugely appreciated and it will help us continue to create a better life for Faith as she has so much more to give and to experience.
