Hello...

After my sister discovering a 'lump'..going to the GP and being fast-tracked within a week to hospital because of the size of this lump she was diagnosed last tuesday with breast cancer ..she is 31 years old and a mummy to 4 lovely boys..the youngest being 7 months old and as a family we obviously are devastated,have a history with cancer and know how horrible this vile disease is only too well.

I could not tell you the name of it..i havent managed to digest too much of the information aswell as my sister and to be honest think were all in shock and on cloud god knows what at the moment..going through the motions..After she found out last week she had a mammogram..this was her 2nd hospital visit..on the 1st visit she had an ultrasound and they took a biopsy there and then..they have said she will need a mastectomy..the cancer she has is a rare type and generally spreads around the breast,,her tumour measures 8cm!!She has been told she will need chemo too and radiation..what route they will take we are still unsure of,wether its surgery or chemo first.

The hospital were having a meeting today (everything seems to happen on tuesdays!!) and she got a call earlier today asking for her to go for an MRI scan next tuesday and also they want to do a minor surgical type thing to her lymph nodes..not remove them but from what i gather a type of biopsy..Is this routine,have you had this done after diagnosis??Why would they want an MRI scan if shes had an ultrasound..a mammogram and biopsys already taken..we are obviously very concerned now as they seem to be digging deeper which i also know is great that if the cancer hasnt spread anywhere in her body the treatment can start and she can be assured its nowhere else!!

It has only been 7 months since we lost our beautiful grandad to cancer..we are petrified that we are having to face this illness again..totally different as jo isnt terminal and she is young but she is my SISTER!!My longest and best friend..I am scared for her as i am myself..If you can answer my questions regarding the MRI scan and minor surgical procedure to the lymph nodes please help me cause i cant bear another week of restless night worrying about this Xx sam
