    Story

Father Pat Clarke went to Brazil in 1977 for a six-month stay. This became a lifetime's work to help the people of the São Paulo favelas to build sewers, a community centre and a holiday camp for its children, helping to transform the lives of thousands of people.

On the 11th December 2008, Father Patrick Joseph Clarke received a certificate declaring him a freeman of the city of São Paulo, an acknowledgement of his continuous heart felt support through funding and hard work on behalf of the Brazilian street children.

This page has been set up to help Father Pat Clarke raise the monies he needs to help The Street Kids of Brazil escape a life of misery, rape, prostitution, poverty and death.

According to a report by UNICEF, there were 10,500 adolescent homicides registered in 2013. An average of 28 children and adolescents are killed every day, making Brazil the country with the second largest number of homicides of boys and girls under the age of 19 in the world. It also reported:

    * Indigenous children are twice as likely as other children to die before reaching the age of one, and they are among the most vulnerable in areas such as education.

    * More than 3 million children and adolescents remain out of school, mostly from poor, Afro-Brazilians, indigenous and quilombolas communities.

    * Maternal mortality remains high, with 61.5 mothers dying per every 100,000 births, from complications related to pregnancy and child birth.

Let's get behind Father Pat allowing him to continue his amazing work providing shelter, security, education, health and support to create a future for these thousands of children.
