Star Volunteers has been set up by my friend Jenny to help disadvantaged and disabled children in Morocco. To move forward and gain charity status funds are needed. At present Jenny is funding this herself.
I was fortunate enough to go out and volunteer in November of this year and it really was an eye opener. Disabled children in Morocco are often given up for adoption or disowned by their family as there is no support system in place as we have in the UK. There is also a culture of shame attached to disabilty in the country. However, volunteers go out to schools to provide a little love and laughter to these children. Paint murals so their environment is more pleasant. Play with babies and provide cuddles in the baby orphanage and feed the many homeless. With extra funds more projects can be organised to help these children and their families. Also this project can gain charity status and therefore continue to provide invaluable support for these children.
