Our Friends Tristan and Claire’s little boy Finnbar has been diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. Finnbar is receiving 24 hour care from his amazing family. What they are going through is unimaginable for all of us, but together they are fighting this with the support of family and friends.

That’s where we come in!!!

Finnbars last name is Cork and the patron saint of Cork is Finbarr, so that’s where we will go. The Cork family live in Hethersett so that’s where we will finish. The distance is approximately 500 miles which we intend to cycle in 5 days. We are aiming to raise £10000 to support Finnbar and his family through this most difficult of times.

Money raised will now be used to help other families going through the same devastating experience, either financially or through advice and support that just cannot be offered by the main charities. We will also push the agenda for research into brain tumours, especially rare and inoperable tumours and particularly in children, both by campaigning and by supporting bigger charities which share this goal. Despite the fact that brain tumours are the biggest killer of all cancers in children and young people, research and treatment options are woefully inadequate and years behind other cancers. Just 1% of the UK national cancer research spend goes toward brain tumour research. We also feel that there are a number of improvements that can be made to the way that the system currently handles children with complex brain tumours. The ultimate aim is to help win the fight so that, in the future, no children or families will have to go through the same pain.
