It costs between £10 000 and £20 000 a year for Finlay to pursue his sport at national and international level. Much of the cost comes from having to travel so far for training and events. He has the potential to be on the world stage in sailing and show just how resilient and hard working state school children from the North East can be.

Finlay Tulett began sailing with Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust when he was 8 years old. He quickly found he was adept at the sport and, with their encouragement, began to compete in the Scottish Traveller series in a topper. Since then he has gone on to win the Scottish Topper Series twice. Finlay also began to pursue a national sailing career and completed his time as a topper sailor in July 2018 by coming 3rd in the National Series.

Finlay has had three seasons in the Scottish Development Squad and is about to return for his 4th, this time as a laser sailor. He has had two seasons in GB Junior Squad and is now aiming for GB Youth Squad.

Finlay is the youngest member of the Scottish Elite Sailing team and in a Sport Scotland Institute of Sport selected athlete.

Finlay is aiming for the Laser Radial Youth World Championships this year.
