Story
Freethorpe FC's 'Walk to Wembley' to raise funds after being victim of an online scam.
Earlier this year the Football Club was devastated to learn that it was the unfortunate victim of a malicious online phishing scam, which resulted in the loss of over £2000 in club funds, which is non-recoverable and has presented the club with some tough challenges. As well as trying to raise awareness to prevent other clubs or organisations succumbing to similar scams the Football Club is holding a sponsored walk event on Sunday 21 January 2018 at Freethorpe Village Hall - 'A Walk to Wembley' to help raise money to recoup some of the funds.
The players, coaches, officials, friends and family plan to walk a combined 1000 laps of the football pitches, totalling 266 miles (the distance from Freethorpe to Wembley and back).
We would really appreciate it if you would consider making a donation to this longstanding Football Club so that it can continue to provide important opportunities for local children and adults alike through its various teams ranging from tots to adults.
The Football Club is run on a totally voluntary basis and the loss of the funds presents some tough challenges but we are all totally committed to recouping as much of the money as we possibly can through various fundraising activities.
Every single donation will make a great difference to our club and we thank you sincerely for taking the time to read our plight and hopefully donate a little something to our cause.
Should we be in the fortunate position that we raise an amount in excess of the amount lost as a result of the fraudulent activity we will donate the additional amount to the 'Community Sports Foundation Disability Programme'.
