Our school swimming pool lining is coming to its expiry date.

It need renewing.

Our swimming pool is a wonderful resource not just for our school and our community, but for our local swim schools and other York schools.

As part of key stage 2 young leaders award I had an idea for raising money for our swimming pool by swimming the the English Channel. My mum said No!
So as a compromise I thought the whole school could take part in a sponsored swim, and swim the English Channel together.

This will take place on the afternoons of the 18th and 20th of February, six classes on each day.

The channel is 22 miles wide and I have calculated that 3000 length of a swimming pool would be the equivalent distance.

If each person in each class swims or walks or just do whatever they can for 10 lengths we will cover together the full 22 miles.
